[He tries to pull back for that one, but the punch still clips the side of his head, and it hurts too. He blinks back stars from his eyes, and slides to the side, dazed, clutching his forehead. Ah...blood...this wasn't good. Oria and Beatrice would be--]
You...you've been picking a fight from the beginning.
[ He kind of has a sinking feeling Satria might be...related in a way. But was that even possible?]
[Ex-scion...? Sinclair falls to the side, his vision blurring a little. But he's curled up, still ready to hit back at the next opportunity. Anger and frustration bubbles up in him]
...but I don't even know you. What could I have done to make you hate me so much?
That's for you to find out. You can live in ignorance and think that you're in the right otherwise.
[ Satria doesn't waste the chance to give Sinclair a good kick at the stomach, but if it's covered from curling up, he'll aim at the front of the legs below the knees instead. ]
[And that's what Sinclair had been waiting for, really. The moment the kick connects, he grabs Satria's leg and gives a vicious pull to knock him off balance once more.]
Being weird and cryptic doesn't help with anything--
[Aaaaah he's had about enough, his head hurts, his chin hurts, everything about this day was terrible!!
"Emil--!" A voice is calling for him from a distance. Oh, Yuri must have been worried, he thinks.
But ah. That's bad. Because in the team was...
"Ho! Sinclair! I see you have been cornered by a single most foul villain--!"
[ Even with the supposed distraction, Satria stays focused. He falls because of the yanking, but he tries to hit him with his knee somewhere. Anywhere, that seems painful. That and he brings a fist down to the side of Sinclair's head again. ]
[Ugh. Ow. He's gotten into scuffles before, because you didn't stay friends with people like Don without knowing how to handle them, but he's been on the defensive for awhile, so the blows are really beginning to take their toll. He snarls, and slams his fist into Satria's throat to get him off him.
It probably helps that Don will be there soon to drag Satria off with surprising strength for such a small girl]
[ He hacks and coughs when punched in the throat, but he doesn't take too long in an effort to grab Sinclair by the throat with murderous intent in his eyesâ
Then Don drags him away by the back of his collar before Satria can actually do that. Who knows what will happen between them, but Satria won't go down without an extended fight.
Meantime, Cethin finds Sinclair and Yuri and runs over to them, alarmed by the scene.
"Oi, Sinclair! You're bleedingâugh. Yuri, help me carry him to the infirmary." ]
["Ah, young man that looks like Severine! I see you wish to continue battle, so I shall be your next oppo--" Whatever Don says next, Sinclair can't quite make out because Cethin and Yuri are getting him out of there fast. Sinclair is quiet as Yuri and Cethin help him to the infirmary, following along obediently, even if a darker part of him wants to go back and finish what had started. The nurse looks at Sinclair aghast, as he sits very meekly in the chair.
"Oh, my, I never would have expected you of all people--" She gives Cethin an order to keep an eye on him while she got out the bandages, as Sinclair holds an ice pack to the worst of his bruising]
...um. Yuri, Cethin. Thank you. I'm not sure what I would have done without you two...
[ Cethin looks off to the side for a moment. Maybe the school's first murder case would have happened if they didn't intervene?! He just sits on a stool next to where Sinclair is and tells Yuri that she can go. Someone probably needs to check up on Don... for her injuries? No. How much damage she might have causedâ
"You're a real piece of work, Sinclair. You look like you got out of a gang fight."
[Aaaaaaaa. Yuri leans over and gives Sinclair a gentle pat on the head.
"It's okay Emil. Rest up. I'm...going to make sure our fencing club's reputation isn't too tarnished after this."
She runs off to do just that, leaving Sinclair to quietly nurse his injuries as the nurse helps him clean up the blood from his face, applying some antiseptic and bandanges here and there. Sinclair pulls a face at Cethin, whatever murderous gaze he had on Satria completely gone, like it was non-existent]
...that...that's really bad huh...
[aaaaaaah, what would Beatrice think?? And Oria...
[ Cethin raises an eyebrow. He's not helping out with the treatment, but he's keeping watch like the nurse told him to! Even though he would have done it himself without being told.
"Oreos is gonna be sooooo mad when he comes back, huh? You know when?"
Oria hates that nickname!! So that's why Cethin can only use it when Oria isn't around. ]
[ "It's fiiiine. He's not here to smack me for it. You're definitely not thinking of telling him anything about this, huh? News probably traveled to Oreos about Satria Evelyn's transfer by now."
No, not really...who is 'Satria Evelyn'? Everyone seems to know him by name. He said...he hated me in particular, but...
[Well, the resemblance told Sinclair everything, but he didn't want to jump and make assumptions. He wanted to hear it from someone else]
...we've never met, and outside of Oria's family, my parents didn't really mingle around with [he makes a small loose gesture as if to encompass the school entirely. It's probably why the Sinclair family were easy marks]...not unless your family was also into mechanics...
"I'm actually here on a scholarship. My family is low-middle class, so I don't have anything to do with the rich people drama stuff. My brother's a high school teacher and that's about it."
Cethin doesn't have parents either, apparently. He doesn't seem too bothered by the mention and moves on forward.
"I dunno why Satria has beef with you, but he seems to have beef with everyone who seems to be on "Oria's side". I try to avoid him when I can... I'd get my ass whooped if I don't. Not a fighter like all you guys."
Yuri doing fencing, Don being fierce in her own right, Sinclair is a hidden beast, Oria is just all kinds of "Don't Want to Mess with"... Cethin Kearn is just Normal McNormalson who has a photography hobby.
Sinclair gives a little nod. People had pulled strings for Sinclair's enrolment, though the school seemed happy enough to take him anyway once they had seen his grades before they began to plummet after his parents died. An enriching experience, a learning experience. Taking in those that met misfortune and building them up again.
There was no illusion as to why Sinclair had been welcomed.
Knowing Cethin was normal and removed from a lot of those rich-people drama things gets Sinclair to relax. Oh, so that's why Oria got along with him so well...]
I'm not really a fighter either you know...
[Please ignore the fact that he gave Satria a broken nose. He really isn't good at those things]
I-it was just instinct from s-self defense classes? [Let him live, honestly. Good thing Cethin came across him after his murderous urges had settled. The nurse gives Cethin a good round of scolding for his joke and Sinclair can't help but laugh a little at it. Ah. Oops. Now he's the target of the scolding, even as he gets tiny little bandages to his forehead to keep the split skin together. Most of it is just bruising, and there's nothing to be done for Sinclair's split lip.
"Keep the ice pack on, and if he throws up or passes out, call me immediately." She says, huffy as she sends them off to take Sinclair back to his room]
...we made her really mad.
[He hopes Don didn't cause too much trouble down there. He pulls a face when he sees his reflection. Oh...the last time he got this roughed up...aaaah]
[ Cethin and Sinclair can just take a lax walk back to the dorms. The weather is nice and classes are over.
"C'mon, we can start walking back or I'm gonna say that admiring yourself in the mirror is what you got from Oreos."
He almost snorts, because Sinclair being that sort of person would kill him inside in many different ways.
"Anyway, about Satria. He and Oria have a super strained relationship. I think they're twins or something? But Satria got snatched and was raised by some random family called the Evelyns. Last I heard, that family ditched Satria too, and then he was picked up by someone. I dunno who that is, but they must be rich. Apparently, he has a history of violence in previous schools. Oria thinks the schools were bribed to take him in. I wonder if the same happened here..."
It sounds like it could be a possibility.
"Anyway, I heard all this from Oria, because on one of our outings with friends, Satria found Oria and attacked him on sight with a knife. It was so freaking dangerous and the rest of us thought he was some sort of serial killer. But after that, we didn't see him again... until now." ]
[Sinclair wishes he was the type to ignore uniform code, because he could sure use an oversized hoodie to hide his face in right now. He makes another face, but follows, listening to Cethin talk and explain it all. There are a quite few things Sinclair is hung up over, but he doesn't voice them.
The Severines were powerful; to let one of their kids get snatched and then flaunted in front of them is...odd. It meant that family had been more powerful? And why? What was the purpose of any of that? Sinclair bites his thumb as he thinks]
...so everyone knows he's violent and dangerous and let him come here anyway? And they put him in one of Oria's classes?
[Aaah, now he's really mad. That said, he feels a headache coming on]
...I wonder why I only just learned of this now. I...we grew up with each other. That's so...
[Unless the family didn't know until they hit high school?]
[ "Honestly, Sinclair... I wouldn't have known this if I didn't shake the info out of Oria when we got back from the stabbing incident. He didn't actually get hurt at the time, by the way. It's probably a family secret or something, but I made him tell me all about it, and if there's anyone that can make him talk about this again, it's definitely you."
Because they're childhood friends. Oria does seem to have a habit of not saying anything unless it's brought up by someone else, forcefully too. Perhaps that was his way so that Sinclair wouldn't have to worry about another problem that he has. Oria always felt that he had too much baggage. Unsuitable for anyone, only to drag them down.
"He seems to feel bad for him sometimes, but when it's not 'sometimes', he looks like he wants to kill him too."
[... Sinclair looks down, turning over those words in his head. He understands. Sinclair liked to be patient with Oria, letting him move at his own pace because he knows how much weighs on him.
But being patient like that was sometimes like letting them both run away, wasn't it?]
