When he finally asks questions, he has no real social skills and is a bit too direct - Dante awkwardly fumbles and Sinclair gets embarrassed. A

Sinclair listens to Kromer laugh and gloat over the corpses of his family, neighbours, friends and then Effie was tortured and hung up for amusement and a slow agonising death.

(I really love that Rodya's the one to genuinely connect to Sinclair, even though Don lay him out with a beating to bring him back to his senses. She's lost similarly, and it's her fault too. So, she understands.)
