It is a new day, and that means it's time for a new book. In absolute fairness, Angela did not invite any of these gnomes. Really, after everything...there shouldn't be any invitations going out anymore. That was no longer within her ability.
[ These unexpected new developments raise numerous questions, all of which will need to be postponed, of course, while the Library has no small amount of fresh chaos to confront. The Outskirts, Yesod recalls from his distant memories of his first life, are no less dangerous than the City all too often tends to be, albeit in other ways. Evidently, the Library is not an impenetrable structure, out here, a dimension only accessible to its denizens again.
In any case, it remains to be seen whether the gnomes that have managed to invade in pursuit of their fleeing victims are comparable to Abnormalities or they occupy a unique category of strange entities.
Fortunately, even without the use of the books that filled the Library's shelves not so long ago, Gebura retains her strength and her skills — as does Roland. It's possible that Binah may deign to take action as well.
It buys the rest of them some time to assess the situation, and for now, Yesod turns to Angela first. ]
As the Library is your E.G.O, Angela, what do you make of this?
[ Angela is quiet for a moment, as if rifling through the thousand years of archives stored in her mind. Of course, none of those archives were relevant here, in the barren wastelands of the Outskirt.
The Library wasn't hidden anymore; nor could it be hidden any time soon with Angela still recovering.
Well, there had always been plans for the re-opening...this simply put their schedule ahead for once. A rare occurrence]
It's quite interesting. They're neither distortions nor abnormalities but they understood immediately my lack of humanity meant I was not a fit to consume as part of their diet. I suppose we will need to research them further to place them in the correct category.
staring at june happening too much, knocking on wood... ty for your patience 🙏
[ Brow furrowed in contemplation, Yesod regards Angela, questioning. ]
Do you mean for us to capture them or restrict our observations to their behavior while we fend them off?
[ Or rather, while the creatures are killed, at this rate.
A unique category as a starting point, then, as far as these uninvited visitors are concerned. It is interesting, admittedly, though what may be especially pressing is ensuring that no one else is considered edible, either. It also implies that others could enter the Library in its current state, just as the gnomes and the people seeking refuge did, which needs addressing.
The commotion in the background certainly sounds familiar. ]
I agree that our changed circumstances bear further analysis, and this includes preparing ourselves for encounters such as these for the foreseeable future.
[They could book the monsters. It wouldn't be impossible. They had the talent and the skills.
But there were other things to consider too.]
We'll restrict ourselves to observations. Should they manage to escape, I would be interested in the reinforcements they could bring back. [If they bring any back] Are they hunters or scavengers looking for an opportunity?
[ It's quite interesting to observe Angela herself as well, after everything now behind them. She could easily prioritize eliminating the intruders and strengthening the Library's defenses, yet she is willing to give them an opening to escape — and to return. Is it simply curiosity or a sort of compassion for unwelcome beings, a desire to understand others fully, no matter what they are?
(And they did learn that the Library's guests weren't truly killed, a choice that Angela must have made all along.)
Yesod accepts Angela's response with a nod even as the unfolding chaos appears to reach a crescendo. His colleagues' voices carry; the gnomes' odd manner of speech makes for discordant interjections. ]
In that case, I presume that we would all benefit from compiling our notes later.
[ Ideally by assembling everyone to hold a well-organized meeting. Unfortunately, that may be overly ambitious — already, the clash between the gnomes and the Library threatens to leave behind a considerable mess to clean up. Not only are there scattered items cluttering the floor, but stains and debris that most likely won't vanish without a trace. ]
...Though it seems that the immediate aftermath must take precedence.
[ She wont admit to anything so soft, so... gentle sounding. But she is interested at least, in this outside world none of them had any knowledge about. She is glad Yesod is not the type to pick at her words to search for some kind of emotional vulnerability.
It is strange. After thousands of years trapped under Ayin's mission, Angela never believed she could stand shoulder to shoulder with everyone and have a simple conversation. Not without carefully barbed words (or not so careful), years of resentment burning beneath...
It's freeing.
The smell that comes from the defeated gnomes is well...]
...it seems we need to put a few things in order.
[ Some of the librarians are retching in the corner. Angela snaps her fingers and the smell disappears, but the mess remains]
...where is Netzach?
[ She knows where he is. But she feels for the sake of conversing properly, she should ask]
( ooc: It's understandable if too much time has passed to pick things back up. Thank you either way for the thread! )
[ The stench permeating the air in the wake of the trespassers' defeat was difficult to ignore — they are all rather fortunate that aspects of the Library's space obey Angela's will even now. Malkuth exclaims her relief on the heels of an audible breath — "Huuuuf~!" — before she resumes cheering Gebura and Roland on while the tip of her duck-headed pen scratches across a page of her notebook. Hod and Tiphereth, recovering, turn their attention to the gnomes' would-be victims, as do Chesed and Hokma. Binah looks on.
Indeed, Netzach is nowhere to be seen. There are more than a few things to put in order.
Yesod himself quietly takes a deeper breath once he can do so, grateful for Angela's intervention. And if Angela still possesses the ability to locate each of them within the Library, given that they remain bound to it, her question suggests that she has chosen not to rely on this ability.
He casts a glance around, in search of any glimpse of his absent colleague's lanky green self. ]
Ah... Knowing Netzach, he has other priorities.
[ Such as avoiding cleanup duty as much as possible. ]
However, I would like to hope that he will recognize the merits of joining us. The sooner we are able to restore the Library to a tidier state, the better.
[ So saying, Yesod surveys the scene, considering where to begin. ]
FOR WORDCHAIN

It seems we have some guests once more.
