[ Sure, he can't keep it up forever, but he will try. He's talking with the adults while taking a sip of his water. Business talk... but he must. The way they try to curry favor with him is laughable... or at least it would be if it wasn't the same thing over and over because he's younger than most. He shuts some deals down firmly and saying that he will consider some of them in the near future. He feels like the rebound when his mother rejected their proposals, so they went to him. He gestures to the food. ]

Try some canapés. They're great.

[ No one pays Sinclair any mind which is how he prefers it. They do smile and take the canapes at Oria's prompting, sending Sinclair back again for another platter. Sinclair just smiles very politely, letting them make assumptions about his... lack of English.

There's some gossip about Hindley's recently deceased wife and the poor man was so heart broken. Right.

Then his smile freezes when he walks straight into Hindley as he leaves the ballroom]

...sir.

[ Oria can't find it in him to sympathize, because the least the man could do was to be professional in this sort of get together. He still has to stay in the ballroom, but he thought he caught a glimpse of Hindley... hm.

He can't do anything about it now, since he's still busy talking with the others, but his eyes wander to the exit doors every now and then. ]

[ Hindley squints at him, slurring a little.

"You... you're that little maid... making eyes at rich men, eh...?" Sinclair tries not to sigh.]

...I would like...to do my job. Please. Thank you.

[ Sinclair pulls himself out of the man's grip and hurries away. If Faust didn't give the signal soon things were going to go down unpleasantly. He already sees Hindley approaching Heathcliff in the gardens. Aaah]

[ He needs a break. Another one. Oria sighs as he walks over to one of the small balconies outside the ballroom that overlooks the garden to get some fresh air.

And then he sees Hindley approaching Heathcliff. Ah. This can't be good.

He's sticking around to watch anyway. ]

[ Oh no. Sinclair recognises that look on Heathcliff's face, the unrestrained hatred he had for Hindley that Sinclair didn't know the story behind. Faust is occupied in some business talks and Dante wasn't around which left...him.

Why. Sinclair sighs, squaring his shoulders and smiling stiffly, sets down the platter to deal with what was happening outside

If nothing else he'd cover for Heathcliff.

The flurry of truly British insults was a sight to behold though]

[ Oria wonders what has the two so heated like this. He thinks back on the rumors about Hindley's wife passing away... does Heathcliff have anything to do with that? Oria is simply curious, like how one would be curious of a puzzle necklace. A fleeting interest, he's sure, but at least they're taking it outside.

Then he sees Amelia there. Hm.

Someone else comes out of the balcony. It's Bora and her steps are still a bit wobbly, which makes her trip and fall on Oria's back. He turns around and... oh. ]

... You should be sitting somewhere. If you go home, that's probably even better.

[ "But I won't get to see you if I go home..."

Oria bites back a sigh and turns back to the two in the garden. Bora, also curious, peeks over. ]

[ It's something to do with Hindley's father and Cathy and it's all a blur to Sinclair. But he knows if Heathcliff lets his temper get the better of him, the consultation awaiting would be...bad. So Sinclair draws in a deep breath and calls out.]

--Mr. Heathcliff!

[Sinclair makes frantic signs at Heathcliff behind Hindley's back and Heathcliff tsks, sneering at Hindley as he stalks back into the ballroom.

But not before Hindley sneers.

"Run with your tail between your legs you damn mongrel--"

Then he looks down at Sinclair.

"Oh, so this is what you damned whore maids prefer do--"

Sinclair doesn't know if it was him or Heathcliff who moved first but Hindley is on the floor, out cold with a broken nose and a large lump on his head. Heathcliff looks at Hindley and whistles.

"Kid, you're becoming a natural at this."

Sinclair stares down at Hindley in dismay, buries his face in his hands, whimpering to himself in German.]

...I didn't want to be the one to get the consultation...

[ Damn. This drama. Maids don't hit anyone, Sinclair. Please. Oria is popcorning this while knowing Sinclair can take care of himself especially with a coworker with him. Not like he'd need the help with how Hindley is knocked out in one go. Atta boy.

Bora tugs on his sleeve.

"Oria, can you please look at me?"

Oria doesn't turn around to look at her. ]

[Sinclair is certainly frazzled and when voices come near the garden he begins pushing Heathcliff away]

Go--I'll cover for you.

[He hisses quietly, and Heathcliff makes his escape in time for the missing woman of the day to make an appearance - Cathy and her very rich fiance.

She obviously doesn't take well to seeing her brother on the ground, alone with a maid and goes ballistic.

"What have you done?! My dear, sweet brother! You--"

Sinclair just keeps his head bowed low and his apologies spilling out in French.

Someone send him home please--

When he finally has room to leave, he glances up to see Oria and Bora together.

HM.]

[ Well, that's that. He's a little tempted to back Sinclair by yelling from where he stands, but he won't do that. Mostly because Oria would probably get in trouble.

"Are you into maids?"

...

"It looks like you're so smitten with that one."

Oria finally turns around, but it's not to look at her. He walks past her and back into the ballroom. ]

[ Sinclair thinks he's never been so happy to be fired in his life. He makes his way back to the servant quarters, oddly chipper despite Doom awaiting him but

This is why they normally use the Before Team for recon.

Maybe they won't have to do this again.

[ Perhaps it's a good thing that Sinclair got fired aside from dealing with More Rich People Things, but from how Bora seemed to be extremely clingy on Oria. Her older brother tried to pry her off Oria when he could, but she's really... clingy... much to Oria's dismay. After receiving the text from Sinclair, Oria just shoots him a "lol" before finishing up whatever business he has left here.

He feels more exhausted than usual when he returns home and the first thing he does he chuck the suit blazer onto the coat rack. The maid will pick it up for laundry later, probably. His hair is still the way it is, slicked back, and he spends some time in the living room, because of the paperwork they received. They'll have to fund at least one of these, because the technology seems promising. However, Oria doesn't think the workers do. It's also irritating to be constantly told that he's too young to do anything. It's not the first time he's been looked down on due to age, but it's even more prominent since Arvel passed. It's also the sentiment that comes from how the Severines must be easy pickings right now, because they thought Arvel did everything. Kaleria and Oria would make them regret those words.

So, he's not in a good mood when he comes back. It's time to start working again, since he had long enough of a break already. After spending a few hours in the living room to finish up his workload post-party, he drags himself into his own room to get freshened up and goes to find Sinclair, wherever he may be on the property. ]

[ Sinclair is finally back in his normal clothes and feels relieved. No more short skirts or maid skirts. He had managed to get most of the make up off his face but the lip gloss was extra stubborn... he'll deal with it later. It's just traces of it now. He can pass it off as lip balm, probably.

Oria will Sinclair outside, reading but not That book. He probably spent a lot of time with Mike too, but birds should rest...unless Mike has decided to follow him because Sinclair is a sucker for animals and they know it and they always get treats]

[ Mike is currently preening into Sinclair's hair as if it's a nest. Oria eventually finds Sinclair outside and stands behind him, sneaking up and covering his eyes with his hands. ]

Guess who~?

[Sinclair laughs turning to try and shake Oria's hands off without dislodging Mike]

Oria--you're finally free?

Yup! Here I am!

[ Oria withdraws his hands and goes to sit next to Sinclair on the bench. It's a nice place to read here. ]

I see Mike has gotten attached to you.

[ Mike just sits in Sinclair's hair all =w= ]

He knows I'll give him treats.

[ When Oria sits down Sinclair sets his book down and reaches over to push over a cup of creamy herbal tea. It's apparent it was made recently]

[ Oria takes the cup of tea. This one again... This tea alone will probably have him get used to herbal things. Nevertheless, he drinks it and lets it warm his body. Relaxing, too. ]

Don't overfeed him.

[ "Hungry." Mike says oh, so very calmly. You'd expect a parrot to normally squawk, but here is Mike, calmly saying that he's hungry. ]

Anyway, what are you reading?

[ get used to the taste of chamomile Oria. At least it has a hint of cinnamon, honey and milk]

Don't worry. Mike isn't that convincing.

[ Bird gets scritches.]

I'm reading "The Song of Achilles"... it's really good, since the author spent ten years writing it.

[ Oof.............. ]

I wonder why it took ten years. At least he finished it eventually.

She wanted to do a lot of research and make sure she was doing something different with Greek mythology.

[ Oria thinks everything has been done under the sun at some point, whether it was published or not.

He sips his tea. ]

It is. [ Sinclair beams, excited despite himself] We wouldn't get these stories from Patroclus' perspective normally.

[ But despite how good the book is, Sinclair bookmarks it and puts it away. Oria time.]
