[Cont'd from here. It's probably evening now, all things considered.
It's been nice, seeing everyone again - except this was really seeing them again. There were a few people that Sinclair had been hoping to see but maybe couldn't have made it which was slightly disappointing, but that was fine. Those were people he had held onto through Mutter anyway.
So Sinclair drifts from the main party once he's done catching up, poking through the ridiculously big mansion. How is it so big in the inside??]
[ It's been some time after the reunion party, since both Oria and Sinclair have things to do. When Sinclair's work takes him to near Silicon Valley at a hotel with his team, Oria definitely makes sure to clear out his schedule for at least several days so that he could go on a date and just hang out with Sinclair in general while he's still around. There's absolutely no compromise for this, and this has always been the case even before he dated Sinclair—he would never compromise about taking leave for his get-together with family and friends. This is how he manages to maintain the work-life balance, just barely... he wonders how difficult this will be when he actually starts going to school again. He did have the condition that he would be essentially giving up his freedom when he starts his uni semester even though his parents did approve for him to live alone some place near the school.
But hey, at least he can drive now. No, Fragment was not an accurate depiction of his normal driving skills. He picks up Sinclair and then finally arrive at the skate rink! There's an actual skate park attached to it, but that portion is outdoors.
There's a lot of people here for some reason, which makes Oria slightly exasperated. ]
Should we go to a different place...? If I knew there would be this many people, I would have rented out the entire place beforehand.
[ It's finally the day to visit Kayser Corp for both Limbus Company and for the Severines. Arvel Severine, the father, will be leading the discussion regarding funding and ethics while Oria will be watching the thing unfold.
However, Kayser Corp brought the Severines on a ruse to eliminate competition. They know how far they've gone in realizing advanced technology in various methods and are quickly becoming a monopoly on said things. They don't fund an experiment without heavy compensation. The Severines may be known for ethical pursuance in developing said technology and Arvel having been "kind" and "shows mercy" to his competitors... but he's not a naive fool.
The building is cold--chilled to the bone. Oria is luckily wearing a suit, but he still feels awfully cold. He hates temperatures on both ends. Just give him room temperature please and forever. Thank you. But it also reminds him of a hospital from how sterile it is. Oria's used to the feeling of being watched, but there's something about this environment that makes it feel even more unpleasant than usual. He's used to people having attempts at his life, after all.
So now they're at the hearing between Arvel, the director of Kayser Corp, and a representative from Limbus Company. Oria stands behind his father as if he's an assistant, with his eyes keenly on everyone in this room. The others stand outside--mostly bodyguards. The atmosphere feels tense. It really doesn't help with Oria trying to keep up with the ongoing conversation as well as taking notes and trying to understand to poke holes in the logic or to see if his father does it first.
[ The thing about contingency plans is knowing the enemy with what limited information he has on hand. That nightmare rattled Oria quite a bit as someone his age is supposed to be regarding the contents. He clung onto Sinclair until he really had to leave that day.
After that, he got cracking down on researching all he could about Kayser Corp so that he could prepare himself. The Information Age has been a constant throughout millenia. Knowledge could give him the upper hand. When asking his father about the company, he just responded with a "yes, I know that" and "you should stop watching horror movies before bed, Oria".
When Arvel Severine arrives, he is closely followed by a male secretary with a long sandy brown hair that's tied in a low spherical bun, also in a black and white suit with a tie, the classics. His green eyes seem pretty sharp when observing his surroundings as he closely follows Arvel.
Looking up, is that a conveyor belt with... chickens?
...
Now that they're seated inside the meeting room with the bodyguards on standby outside, they quietly wait while getting documents in order. ]
[ It had been simple. The business meeting was bona fide and legitimate for at least half of it, before Oria encountered Kromer and her lackeys. While he remained civil in front of everyone, he was already making plans on how to get back at her without killing her. Death is the easy way out. Living is much harder.
It's just that the group had gotten to them first, kidnapping Arvel and Oria. Kromer wanted to see Sinclair, after all. Oria would be good bait. It was only two hours from the new day that they had gone missing that the mother, Kaleria, who is absolutely crazed about ridding anywhere she could see of extremist groups, had hired a raid that involved Limbus Company and more mercenaries to take down Kromer and her faction for good. Sarabi? She fears no terrorist group, especially Sarabi. She's been at odds with them for so long, and she heavily regrets not being able to take them out sooner before her family was directly affected. That's the last time she listens to her husband... for various reasons.
What happened in the following hours were excruciatingly painful.
After being kidnapped, Kromer had personally taunted Oria about Sinclair and wounded Arvel. The two were thrown into a room together--Oria with a particular shock collar clamped around his throat. He thought that as long as they staunched the blood flow, Arvel could survive despite how they were stuck there. But in a sadistic twist, Oria would get increasingly painful and dangerous shocks from said collar unless he did as he's told. Of course, this being Oria, he remained defiant no matter what, especially when the order was to kill his father. Worried for his child, Arvel tells Oria that he shouldn't have to endure these sorts of things more than he has to. The words exchanged between the two will be something Oria will never forget when he drove the knife into his father's heart.
The death should have ended it, but that wasn't all. Oria continues to suffer shocks, because there were follow-up orders, such as carving out the heart organ from his father's corpse by using the same knife and then stomp on it. Desecrate the deceased corpse--his own father's corpse. Even through Arvel's sacrifice, Oria still had to do these things.
Sinclair, while on his rescue mission, would probably hear snippets of these stories from whatever guards that he comes across under Kromer. It was like an entire show that they took turns watching from a surveillance room with prison cameras trained on them. Most of Arvel and Oria's belongings were inside a bag in the surveillance room that Sinclair could retrieve if he wanted to.
And by the time Sinclair would make it into the prison room, the guard had the key to the steel door and the collar so it would be easy to get in. And he gets there, he'll see a white room with nothing in it apart from the puddle of blood and smears of it here and there, splatter marks, the works. Arvel's head has been jaggedly sawed off at the top with the once compacted brain strewn about like flimsy wet noodles.
Oria's hands are bloody, but the owner of said hands is also facing the blank white wall on the other side from the mangled corpse. He's gone pale, probably cried at some point but is no longer doing so, breathing is labored and a chore, and no thanks to the shock collar, there are also burn marks around his neck. ]
[ After Oria was discharged from the hospital, he went back to his original house where the rest of the family was. Of course, he took Sinclair with him and was thankful that he didn't have to introduce him as if he was some stray he picked up. His strict mother actually allowed it and gave Sinclair one of the guest rooms. Unfortunately, it's a bit far from Oria's room, but that's how all guest rooms were constructed. Queen sized bed with a bathroom of its own... a vanity... and more.
On one of those days while recovering, Oria can be found in the pool, sitting on the stairs that gradually lead people into the pool. He has a t-shirt and something like cargo shorts that end at his knees. It looks like these were specifically bought for this purpose. His legs are stretched outwards and he's moving them in the water. Lax physical therapy, just like the time when he woke up after two months of body disuse.
The pool is well protected despite it being outdoors. The bodyguards are always out of sight, but Oria knows that they're still around.
He sighs as he continues to move his legs in the water. ]
[ It's some ambiguous time later, and in a morning, it's never really quiet in this area of the city. It's always bustling with workers going to and fro--probably trying to grab a quick coffee before heading off to their 9 to 5 workplace. Sinclair would just be doing some shopping. Mundane. Inconspicuous.
But what isn't that is when Sinclair goes into a quieter place in the area, he gets grabbed and gagged with a strong chloroform washed cloth. Ever since their public outing, it's been recognized that Oria and Sinclair have been dating. And of course, the kidnappers think that Sinclair is just some thin, anxious scrawny guy who works a desk job. That's totally what a clerk means, right?
The next time he wakes up, he'll find himself tied up to a chair in an abandoned place. There's rope around his torso to the backrest of the chair, his wrists tied together behind said chair, and his legs tied on each front leg of the chair. He's pretty bound, but at least it's just rope. They didn't confiscate whatever is on his person either, except for one thing. The kidnappers might be kinda stupid in a way...
The two kidnappers are a short man and a tall man. There aren't many descriptions about them because they both have a ski mask over their face. Very typical. Very uncool. If Oria saw them, he'd say that they're so cliche that they're begging to get their butts kicked.
Alas, Oria isn't here.
"Twenty million would be like a penny for the Severines, wouldn't it?"
"One billion. Minimum."
"We can go higher than that! Besides, now is the best time to wreck havoc, now that the head Severine is dead. The family must be in shambles. Anyway, call him up!"
"But we don't have their number. Should we just call the corporation?"
...
The shorter one tosses Sinclair's phone at the guy's face. At least it's caught.
[ A small relatively unknown group like Limbus Company would never have had the ability to rub shoulders with America's elite normally. The point was to remain relatively unknown, and do the dirty work for other enterprising groups, governments and powerful corporations alike.
But when Heathcliff received an invitation to a party from the daughter of one of Timetrack's leading executives, it was an opportunity that couldn't be missed. After all, if they could get a lead into Timetrack's research, they could potentially track down leads to other Abnormalities hiding under the surface. So the higher ups at Limbus Company planned. And planned.
And that's how Sinclair found himself with long blonde hair, swept back neatly into braid, clad in a modest maid's outfit and a face done up with make up to try and disguise some of his features without it being too obvious. Who knew Rodya had those skills with make up...
They've been split into teams for this. Sinclair to try and find his way to any back rooms, Faust to keep a leash on Heathcliff and Meursault to deliver any instructions over the earpiece Sinclair kept hidden in his hair.
This is both a party to unveil their new line of engines that could potentially break the barrier of physics to improve the speed of jets and train engines and a way to track down further investors by bringing them into a small meeting during the party. But anyone that knew Timetrack also knew they were neck deep in a lot of weapons development and were a conglomerate in their home country.
So Sinclair knocks on a door politely and pushes a cart into a meeting, keeping his head low and trying his best to disappear from sight at a spontaneous meeting that popped up with the high ranking executives and owners of many corporations around the world. A lot of alcohol is being poured...]
[ Sinclair leaves on the boat trip for work that lasts several weeks. In the meantime, Oria had been incredibly busy as he got back into the swing of things. He had to make appearances everywhere, which really wore him down as time passed. He's officially appointed Iria to be his personal assistant, because he can't trust anyone else to do the work other than her. In between what little free time he had, he tried to investigate Abnormalities in every hidden corner of the internet and all that to see if it really had been thoroughly kept off the worldwide web.
His efforts remain fruitless.
Despite his busy schedule, Oria forcibly makes time to meet Sinclair at the pier, since he has one free day before they're shipped back to Seattle. He plans to make this trip brief, because he's sure Sinclair wants to rest from all that even though he doesn't know what happened on the ship. Oria planned a little cafe date or just perhaps going to the park after for a peaceful time. He didn't tell Sinclair, because he's been out of service for weeks. He can still change plans though. It'll be fine. Probably.
POST-GAME party continuation w/ Oria
It's been nice, seeing everyone again - except this was really seeing them again. There were a few people that Sinclair had been hoping to see but maybe couldn't have made it which was slightly disappointing, but that was fine. Those were people he had held onto through Mutter anyway.

"Ow! That hurts, you bastard!"
"Can it, dumbass. Call him." ]

TCORP TIME
But when Heathcliff received an invitation to a party from the daughter of one of Timetrack's leading executives, it was an opportunity that couldn't be missed.
A lot of alcohol is being poured...]

the voyager of the stars
His efforts remain fruitless.
Despite his busy schedule, Oria forcibly makes time to meet Sinclair at the pier, since he has one free day before they're shipped back to Seattle. He plans to make this trip brief, because he's sure Sinclair wants to rest from all that even though he doesn't know what happened on the ship. Oria planned a little cafe date or just perhaps going to the park after for a peaceful time. He didn't tell Sinclair, because he's been out of service for weeks. He can still change plans though. It'll be fine. Probably.
So he waits. ]
