[ Sinclair knows that. He doesn't like Oria being compelled to conform to expectations and the idea he was prodding Oria along to do so makes him feel worse]
...let me walk you back. So it doesn't look so odd...
[ He also wants to take whatever time he can get with Oria...]
[ Oria turns around and holds Sinclair's both hands with his own, leaning in to whichever side doesn't have the ear piece. If both have them, well. His voice is quiet and low: ]
[ Luckily it's only one. Sinclair turns a bright red despite every bit sense in him. He wants to kiss Oria... but he'll get lip gloss on him. Conundrum. He squeezes Oria's hands]
[ Sinclair pauses, acknowledging Oria's point. The Lintons weren't the most clever about their security most likely]
See you later.
[ Sinclair smiles uncertainly and dips into the proper little bow for appearances before he slips off with his cleaning cart. He'll probably get called back in to help with serving ..]
[ Oria goes back into the business party, trying to go in unnoticed. It works for the most part and he can see his mother's shoulders relaxing a little.
He doesn't see Bora nor her older brother and he wants to sigh out of relief. Is Heathcliff or Hindley going to cause chaos for different reasons? Oria is keeping an eye on them, because they seem to be the most agitated ones here. ]
[ There's a fuss in the servant quarters when Sinclair returns and one of the girls grabs his hands and begs him to take her spot with serving. She can't stand serving that man for even another minute. Sinclair agrees because...he does have a new level of empathy now. Amelia is stoic and soft spoken, she can do it... So he takes the canapes and drinks and carries them back in.
[ If Sinclair takes a moment to serve Hindley, Oria calls for Amelia over, because he wants a canape. Yeah. Hopefully before drunk man does anything untoward. ]
[ Sinclair glances over at Oria in surprise but quickly goes across the room before Hindley can think to get handsy after Sinclair tops up his glass. He doesn't see it but Oria can probably see the thunderous look on Hindley's face grow]
Um. Yes?
[ He holds up the tray, his voice a lot softer than usual]
[ Sure, he can't keep it up forever, but he will try. He's talking with the adults while taking a sip of his water. Business talk... but he must. The way they try to curry favor with him is laughable... or at least it would be if it wasn't the same thing over and over because he's younger than most. He shuts some deals down firmly and saying that he will consider some of them in the near future. He feels like the rebound when his mother rejected their proposals, so they went to him. He gestures to the food. ]
[ No one pays Sinclair any mind which is how he prefers it. They do smile and take the canapes at Oria's prompting, sending Sinclair back again for another platter. Sinclair just smiles very politely, letting them make assumptions about his... lack of English.
There's some gossip about Hindley's recently deceased wife and the poor man was so heart broken. Right.
Then his smile freezes when he walks straight into Hindley as he leaves the ballroom]
[ Oria can't find it in him to sympathize, because the least the man could do was to be professional in this sort of get together. He still has to stay in the ballroom, but he thought he caught a glimpse of Hindley... hm.
He can't do anything about it now, since he's still busy talking with the others, but his eyes wander to the exit doors every now and then. ]
"You... you're that little maid... making eyes at rich men, eh...?" Sinclair tries not to sigh.]
...I would like...to do my job. Please. Thank you.
[ Sinclair pulls himself out of the man's grip and hurries away. If Faust didn't give the signal soon things were going to go down unpleasantly. He already sees Hindley approaching Heathcliff in the gardens. Aaah]
no subject
Huh? What's up?
[ He responds normally. What does Sinclair need from him... ]
no subject
...let me walk you back. So it doesn't look so odd...
[ He also wants to take whatever time he can get with Oria...]
no subject
[ He's conscious of it for things like this. Unfortunately for Sinclair. ]
1/2
2/2
I can walk you to the doors at least. I have a cleaning trolley so it shouldn't look too weird.
[ Rich people though...]
no subject
Oria laughs a little. ]
Sure, Emily. Let's go. Lead the way, since I'm so lost here.
no subject
[ Sinclair does a quick clean up, putting things back exactly where he found it]
... it's also supposed to be "Amelia".
[Amelia is a stoic no nonsense maid who barely talked to people after all... ]
no subject
[ Oria turns around and holds Sinclair's both hands with his own, leaning in to whichever side doesn't have the ear piece. If both have them, well. His voice is quiet and low: ]
I wouldn't mind getting into a scandal with you.
no subject
That would be how I lose my job...
no subject
[ Oria lets go of his hands. ]
By the way, that was a joke, Meursault. Let's go, Amelia.
[ Then he turns to leave again. ]
no subject
I still can't believe you found this room of all rooms when there's a billiard room down the hall too.
no subject
[ He's trying to say that it's like an intro to a porn video. Someone save Sinclair. ]
no subject
[ Oria??? Sinclair looks a little baffled. Honestly Oria walking in on him while he was letting Meursault hack the computer was Something]
I don't think Timetrack would let any of their guests get attacked here...
no subject
[ Does that say anything about the security level, Sinclair? ]
Anything can happen.
[ Oria stops in front of the door that leads back out to the party. ]
Thanks for being a sweetheart and leading me back here, Amelia. Now I can get back to the party like it was always intended~
[ Oria sighs. ]
Time to get my game face on. See you later.
no subject
[ Sinclair pauses, acknowledging Oria's point. The Lintons weren't the most clever about their security most likely]
See you later.

Hopefully Hindley is too drunk to do anything...]
no subject
no subject
Um. Yes?
[ He holds up the tray, his voice a lot softer than usual]
no subject
Oria just smiles the professional smile as he eats a canape, picking it off the plate that Sinclair holds. Then another. And another. ]
Oh, these are pretty good. Could you get some more, please?
[ Oria is trying to keep Sinclair away from Hindley as much as possible. ]
no subject
Certainly.
[ He's not sure how long they can keep this up but...]
no subject
Try some canapés. They're great.
no subject
There's some gossip about Hindley's recently deceased wife and the poor man was so heart broken. Right.
Then his smile freezes when he walks straight into Hindley as he leaves the ballroom]
...sir.
